How to Mount Your TV

Now that the days of tube TVs are long gone, mounting your flat-screen TV on the wall is the way to go. Placing it correctly and safely is vital, not only aesthetically and for convenience but also to avoid any damage to your home or yourself. You can pay a technician to take care of this task, but you can also handle it yourself with just a few steps.

Get the Right Tools

Like any job, mounting your TV requires that you have the correct tools. Many of these, if not all, you could already have on hand in your home. If you’re missing some, they are affordable at your local hardware store. Or, you could even borrow some from a family member or friend. Here’s what you’ll need to mount your TV:

  • Pencil or masking tape
  • Stud finder
  • Tape measure
  • Leveler
  • Phillips head or flathead screwdriver
  • Power drill with a drill bit
  • TV mount with included screws, brackets, and spacers

Find the Studs

You can’t hang the TV just anywhere. To support the weight of the device, you need to find the studs in the wall. Hanging it on drywall alone will not hold the TV. Using the stud finder, you should easily identify where the studs are. Then, measure the mounting points on the TV bracket to figure out how many studs are required to hold the TV. Mark the spot of these studs with a pencil. Usually, you’ll just need two studs.

Mark the Location of the Hole

You need to be precise when it comes to mounting your television. Guesswork or estimating won’t do. Indicate exactly where you need to insert the screws into the wall. You’ll want to use a leveler to make sure they are even between the two studs. You also don’t want them to be slanted. Using a pencil or a piece of tape will be perfect for this step.

Check Again to Make Sure

Now that you’ve marked the positions on the studs, grab the bracket and place it flat against the wall. Line up a screw with the first marked hole. Then, move the other side of the bracket to line up with the other hole. Check once more that the holes are level and aligned correctly.

Drill the Holes and Mount the Bracket

Next, use the marks to guide you where to drill the holes. Using your drill, make holes through the drywall and into the studs. Attach the bracket in the wall firmly with the screws. Make sure the fit is tight.

Attach the Mounting Plate

Now you are on to attaching the mounting plate to the back of the TV. Line up the mounting plate with the mounting holes on the back of the TV. Then, attach the mounting plate to the secured bracket on the wall. Be careful when lifting and moving the TV.

Following these steps will help ensure your safe and successful mounting task. With the TV nicely on the wall, you have a great view of the entertainment you want to watch. You can then get a Peacock promo code and purchase this streaming service.
